BRIDGES

Downloadable audio and e-books

What could be more convenient than downloading an audio book or an e-book right from your own computer - any time of day or night? Well, now you can.

The Osceola Library has subscribed to Bridges (formerly WILBOR and NEIBORS), a provider of downloadable audio books and e-books. We offer this service to residents of Osceola and rural residents of Clarke County, per our agreement with Overdrive. Please note, our Open Access patrons are not eligible for this service.

For audio books, begin by downloading the Overdrive Media Console software from the Bridges website. Then, simply search for a title you'd like to listen to, log in with your library card number, and download the title to your computer. The software allows you to listen to the book right from your own computer, or you can burn it to disks or transfer to MP3 players and iPods®, so you can listen to a book wherever you go. There is a quick-start guide on the Bridges website for all the help you'll need.

For e-books, you may or may not need to download additional software, depending on the type of e-reader you own.

If you're ready to get to the Bridges site and check out some audio or video, go here.

If the book you're waiting for is currently checked out in Bridges, simply add yourself to the waiting list and then go to www.pixelofink.com to see what free e-books are being offered there.
