Your Library Card

Who can get a library card, and how to apply.

Library cards are issued free to residents of Osceola, as well as surrounding Iowa communities through the State of Iowa Open Access Program. Our policy was changed effective May 1, 2009 to require all patrons to present their card any time they want to check out an item or use a public access computer. If you come in without your card, you will be refused service.

To apply for a card, you must provide a photo ID with current name and address. If your ID does not have your current information, you must provide additional proof of name and address, such as a utility bill, rental agreement, pre-printed check, etc. Apply in person during library hours. Your card will be available to pick up at the circulation desk in approximately two to four weeks.

Promptly report a lost or stolen card by calling the library at (641) 342-2237. There is a $1.00 fee to replace a lost or stolen card. If a borrower has overdue items or late charges, borrowing privileges may be restricted.
